BASIC FLUORESCENT TROUBLESHOOTING
- When selecting a ballast make sure it is compatible in lamp type, wattage, and system voltage.
- Ballast can come in magnetic, electronic, and dimming ballast.
- Ballast also have power factors, High Power Factors are required for commercial use and Low Power
- Factors are permitted in residential areas.
- To avoid flickering electronic ballasts should be used.
- To reduce the humming that is commonly associated with magnetic ballasts use electronic ballasts.
- To avoid glare use adequately shielded fixtures.
- When exposed to extreme temperatures fluorescent lamps will operate at a lower performance level. Optimal fluorescent performance occurs between 68 to 122 degrees.
