Fluorescent Energy Saving Tips
CALCULATE FLUORESCENT ENERGY SAVING
The best way to save energy when using fluorescent bulbs is to retrofit your lights from T12 to T8 and or T5 tubes.
These newer tubes use less energy and generally last longer while providing greater light output. Retrofitting your fixtures requires replacing the T12 ballast with a T8 or T5 ballast. The pins for these bulbs do have the same configuration but it is still best to change the sockets. Please ask us about our retrofit kits that include a new ballast with wires and sockets and quick disconnects already attached.
Due to new energy regulation there are also newer T8 bulbs that use 28 or even 25 watt compared to the standard 32 watt tubes. They cost a bit more but the 15-20% energy savings compared to 32w might be worth it.
