Bermuda Club Assn LED Retrofit 1
Bermuda Club Assn recently completed an LED retrofit of all of their existing exit signs. Exit signs run 24/7 and as older ones can contain up to two 20w bulbs it is the equivalent of leaving a 40 watt bulb burning
24/7 at an annual cost of approximately $30 each. With close to 300
exit signs the Bermuda Club was spending close to $9000 annually on exit
sign energy costs and constantly replacing burnt out light bulbs.
The solution involved replacing or retrofitting existing exit signs with LED exit signs and bulbs that use only 4 watts each. Where possible newer exit signs were installed that included integral LED lights and in areas where this was not feasible an LED retrofit bulb was installed in the existing exit sign. The new exit signs include a 5 year warranty and with an expected LED lamp life of 25 years maintenance staff won’t be changing these bulbs any time soon. The Association is expecting the project to pay for itself within the first year due to the tremendous energy savings on their reduced FPL bill. They spent $4500 with a projected savings of $7233 which calculates to a 7 month ROI.
